Uni Pop-Up Flight Reduces Product Waste

Introduced for elevating conveyors to the food industry is a product waste reducing device made by the Uni division of Ammeraal Beltech. Uni's Pop-up flight, integrated into a modular belt system, is a hygienic mechanical flight that automatically stands at the infeed of the inclining conveyor and drops away before discharge.  As the flight is on its way to the return path, a scraper is involved in removing the stuck product off the flight.  Not only are you saving costly product from falling to the floor, you are diminishing the labor to clean the floor under the conveyor. The Uni Pop-Up flight is ideal for any product that will stick to a flight, e.g. shredded carrots, leafy vegetables, shrimp, gummy bears, and so much more.  This is an ideal belt for new elevating conveyors or retrofitting onto problematic elevating conveyors.

How does it work?

Pop-up flights are mainly for inclined transport of sticky products. The Pop-up flights will pop-up when activated by a support strip beneath the Pop-up flight.

Activation of flights

When the Pop-up flights are not activated, they will be lying flat on top of the belt surface on the carry section. On the return section, they will just by hanging due to gravity.

Belt scraper

One of the main features of the Pop-up flight system is the ability to take advantage of a belt scraper. A belt scraper ensures the product is positively removed from the belt surface and flights, thus reducing product carry over and loss on return section of the conveyors
